2 guys, 24hr, 7 buffets

Sin City, also known as Las Vegas, is said to be able to accommodate any vice that you may have or one that you may choose to indulge. So we chose Gluttony. On our last trip to Las Vegas with my friends Dave and Scott we notice that several of the Casinos were offering a buffet special that included seven buffets in 24 hours all for the wonderful low price of $44.00.

The seven choices were the Lago Buffet (Caesars), Le Village Buffet (Paris), Spice Market Buffet (Planet Hollywood), Flavors Buffet (Harrah's), Paradise Garden Buffet (Flamingo) Carnival World Buffet (The Rio), Village Seafood Buffet (The Rio), and the Emperor's Buffet (Imperial Place).
We decided to start with the Spice Market Buffet as we had been to the Le Village Buffet last December and we want to try the one's we had not been to. If you plan on taking advantage of this special I would suggest that you get the reward card. Just a note for convenience and you will save five dollars too by using the reward card. Also you will use your reward card at each of the buffets instead of wearing a wrist band for 24 hours.

We were seated at our table and off to the seafood section of the buffet. Large sliced crab legs, boiled shrimp (peeled), fried shrimp, breaded fish and so much more. After filling our plates with the assorted seafood it was time to dig in. We were both hungry as we had missed lunch because of the flight. A pile of shells and tails indicated that it was time to explore the other gastronomical delights that were being offered.

Scott went for Italian, as for me straight to the Prime Rib, mashed potatoes and of course the horseradish. Then it was time to explore the desert bar. A very good assortment of desserts awaited us. My choice a very good banana cream pie.

Scott and I both made a fatal mistake; we ate way too much so we really didn't want to go to another buffet that night. So after an hour of epicurean delight it was time to return to the resort and we would plan our next day's adventure.

The plan was to visit at least 4 more buffets before we had to fly home. We planned to start at 7 a.m. with breakfast maybe second a breakfast, lunch, and early dinner before we had to fly home.

It was a really good plan except that Scott had been up for 28 hours and slept in. We chose the Paradise Garden Buffet at the Flamingo. A really good breakfast of bacon, sausage, hash browns, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy and of course all the fruit you could want. Good service, good food, and a great view of the Flamingo's. Again we ate too much.

After a refreshing swim in the pool back at the resort it was time to head back.

This time we chose the Flavors Buffet at Harrah's. Unfortunately this was the worse buffet we found. The food was tasteless, cold, and tough. The crab was the smallest we had ever seen and the shrimp was unpeeled. We decided to leave with full plates on the table. It was that bad. Then off to the Lago Buffet at Caesars.

After walking for what seemed miles we finally found the buffet, Caesars did not make it easy to find the buffet. I would like to say that it was worth the walk but it really wasn't. The food was ok and we did eat there. However what was really good was the desert bar. All I can say is oh wow! This is the place for deserts.

So here are the ratings of our experience at the different buffets.

Spice Market Buffet (Planet Hollywood) very good seafood and prime rib and a variety of other foods including deserts.

Paradise Garden Buffet (Flamingo) excellent breakfast, looking forward to lunch and dinner there on another adventure.

Flavors Buffet (Harrah's) don't waste your time.

Lago Buffet (Caesars) Ok for lunch or dinner but really good for desert. We plan on just desert. Bring extra water and food as you will get lost.

Le Village Buffet (Paris) is still my favorite, very good food, and the best designed buffet in Las Vegas. You feel that you are dining in Paris.

Emperor's Buffet (Imperial Place) we
have yet to explore.

Carnival World Buffet (The Rio) we did not visit this buffet this time but I have been there before. It used to be Dawn's favorite but we have not been there for several years. We will have to see.

Over all Scott and I have a great time eating our way through Las Vegas. We have a better plan for next time and we hope that Dave will be able to come with us.

Just my two bits.

Chuck
